Off-Site Workshop Valve Repair and Refurbishment

📌 Project Summary

This project details the systematic extraction, transport, and complete overhaul of critical industrial valves within a specialized, controlled workshop environment. When inline maintenance is insufficient for complex wear, valves must be decommissioned and brought to a machine shop. This project utilizes heavy-duty machining tools, automated lapping equipment, and specialized test benches to rebuild degraded valves back to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards, guaranteeing factory-grade performance upon re-installation.

⚙️ Core Objectives
    • Precision Machining: Re-face damaged flanges, turn worn stems, and weld-overlay eroded valve bodies using high-tolerance workshop machinery.
    • Flawless Seating: Utilize mechanical lapping machines to achieve micron-level flatness on valve gates, balls, and seats, eliminating internal bypassing.
    • Controlled Environment Testing: Perform rigorous pressure, shell, and seat leakage tests away from active field hazards to ensure 100% calibration accuracy.
    • Traceable Certification: Generate comprehensive inspection, machining, and test reports for each individual serial number to maintain full compliance history.

🛠️ Scope of Work
    • Phase 1: Decommissioning & Transport – Isolating the pipeline, safely extracting the valves, and transporting the heavy components to the workshop under strict logistics tracking.
    • Phase 2: Complete Disassembly & Cleaning – Stripping down the valves to bare metal, media-blasting components to remove scaling/rust, and performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to find hidden micro-cracks.
    • Phase 3: Component Rebuilding & Lapping – Replacing all elastomeric seals, packing, and bearings; machining metal sealing surfaces; and lapping components to restore a bubble-tight seal.
    • Phase 4: Hydrostatic & Pneumatic Testing – Mounting the reassembled valves onto a specialized workshop test bench to subject them to high-pressure seat and shell tests matching or exceeding operating parameters.

💡 Expected Impact
By moving repairs from the field to a specialized workshop, this project ensures the highest quality of craftsmanship and calibration. It eliminates the risk of field dust contamination during assembly, extends the operational lifespan of high-value assets by years, and provides a fully documented, certified asset ready for immediate hot-swapping or re-installation.
